Newport News is in Virginia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Newport News follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. I have always been a fan of supporting local business over corporate/franchised establishments. HRPC has its quirks, as some have mentioned, however this place to me is nothing short of fantastic. Staff is professional, helpful, and courteous. Courts and facilities are always clean and maintained. Lighting and music are what they are and are being addressed. (Upgrades take money and time) After a couple of games you will adjust, just be patient. To me the most important aspect is the people/ members and the games played. All skill levels welcomed, competitive yet friendly games, and a community of genuine players. I have yet to have a bad experience (may have played liked poop more than I care to admit, but thatβs on me) and wish the owners nothing but success in the future. If you debating playing here, come out and experience HRPC. Talk to the members, make some new friends, and be part of supporting local owned and operated business.

I really wanted to like this place. However 2 of the 3 times ive been I left disappointed. First time decent experience 20 dollars each for a couple hour block it was fun but there was no one there so just played singles with my GF solid time. Second time was for the memorial day event. When we asked about trying the demo paddles, the response we received felt unnecessarily aggressive and immediately caught us off guard. We were told we needed to hand over our vehicle keys in order to use a demo paddle. I understand wanting collateral for expensive paddles, but she was so rude to us. We spoke to several other players and all had the same response about her attitude. I did email them about it but did not receive a response. Tihird and probably finally time. We went with some friends for the 5-9 time block around 7 we decided we would go grab a beer next door at craft 60 as we were leaving we were told if we leave we can't come back. They don't offer food or drinks except for a vending machine. I think we we pay for 5-9 we should be able to grab a drink a snack and come back. So we went back to playing another 2 games then left grabbed dinner and as we left dinner at 830 they had

I frequented this venue for a drilling session on a weekday afternoon. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The layout is nice, enabling easy conversation and meeting new people. The only discomfort was the court lighting, which I am told will be upgraded soon. My depth perception could not calibrate given the current lighting. I definitely plan to return and perhaps join after their lighting is optimized.

UNREALIZED POTENTIALβ¦ This place could be great and a lot better than it is now with a few improvements. They need a speaker system, like The Picklr has. It adds great feels to the gameplay and more camaraderie when there is good music playing. Here, it is often eerily quiet, especially on the courts toward the back. The ceilings are quite low but still high enough for pickleball, nothing much they can do about that, unless they reroute the A/C & heating ducts hanging above some courts. The lights are very hard on the eyes, itβd be nice if they found a way to conceal them/cover them with a translucent film that doesnβt reduce brightness on the court. Another issue is that they close at 9pm, which is way too early. Many people I play with work in service and get off late, itβd be nice to AT LEAST be open until 10 (Picklr is open til midnight, so we often go there to play later) All of the courts here are clean from what Iβve seen, unlike the Picklr, where the courts rarely get cleaned. The owners are nice people and care about everyone it seems. Now obviously all indoor clubs die down once the weather warms up, but this place has great potential and I hope the owners make some sm

Great experience at Hampton Roads Pickleball Club! Iβve been playing here since it opened and really enjoy it. The facility is impressiveβeverything is always very well kept and maintained, from the courts to the common areas. Thereβs a really good mix of skill levels, so whether you want a competitive match or just a fun game, you can find it here. But honestly, the best part is the people. The staff and owners are genuinely friendly and make you feel welcome every time you walk in. Highly recommend checking them out
